During July 27-30th, a group of brothers from the Xi-Psi Chapter were in attendance for the Leadership Conference put on by Kappa Sigma in New Orleans. During this weekend the members in attendance were able to meet with brothers from around the country, share stories, and attend meetings and seminars that will allow them to develop personally and bring useful information back here to the University of North Florida and help grow the chapter and campus collectively.
During this conference, there are always a few sessions where awards are given out to signify a chapter's hard work and effort during previous semesters. There are also individual awards that signify a brother's effort to improve their respective chapters.
Our award recap from this weekend:
Chapter Awards:
Founder's Award for Chapter Excellence (FACE)
This award is received by only the most disciplined of chapters, and has many criteria that only a well-rounded chapter would accomplish. It is one of the highest honors the Kappa Sigma National Fraternity could bestow upon one of its chapters and we here at Xi-Psi are incredibly proud to receive it. This is the first FACE award in the chapter's history and it is a culmination of hard work and dedication of brothers, past and present. While it may be the first, it most certainly won't be the last. Next stop: Founder's Circle.
Champion Chapter
"Awarded to those Chapters and Colonies with 50 or more Men or who are No. 1 on their campus."
Rush is a very important part of a chapter's process and we're proud to say that we're one of the largest fraternities on the North Florida campus.
Individual Awards:
Jerry Barrs - Outstanding Grand Master
"The Outstanding Grand Master Award is presented annually to the Grand Master of undergraduate Chapters of Kappa Sigma who have evidenced the highest standards of leadership and commitment to the office. The areas of leadership outlined in exemplary chapter Management, External Leadership, Motivation, Innovation of programs while in office, and Community/Interfraternity Relationship Management."
Jason Winegeart - Outstanding Grand Procurator
"Outstanding Grand Procurator Awards are presented to those Brothers who have achieved outstanding performance in the duties and responsibilities of the Grand Procurator throughout the year. The areas of leadership are outlined: exemplary adherence to the Code of Conduct, Revision of By-laws, Oversight of Committee Structure and Innovation of programs while in office."
It was an eventful weekend that will not be forgotten. We here at Xi-Psi are committed to excellence and will not stop working to keep moving forward. Next year, at Conclave in Las Vegas, the list will be larger.
